Home Education
East Pennsboro Area School District respects the rights of parents to educate their children in the home. The school district follows all the legal requirements for educating children in the home. The required home education affidavit covers the current school year July 1st – June 30th and must be submitted to the superintendent’s office no later than August 1st of each school year a child receives home education. For information regarding home education legal requirements, please refer to the PA Department of Education (PDE) for further clarification.
Students attending home education programs shall be eligible to participate in cocurricular activities, academic courses and a career and technical education program in the District, based on the requirements for admission to that program and Board policy, on the same basis as other District students. If you have questions regarding your student(s) involvement, please contact the pupil services office.
Please note that if you make any changes to your child’s educational plan during the current school year to notify the pupil services office. Changes include the enrollment in an EPASD district building, enrollment in a private school, commercial cyber school, or moving outside the school district.
Application Process
The following documents are required for submission to the district each year for your student(s) to be approved for Home Education.
August 1st Deadline
- Student’s notarized Affidavit and three required Attachments for upcoming school year
- Please use the PA Department of Education Affidavits (updated 2022) below
- The District Office offers free notarization by appointment
- Three (3) distinct and separate Attachments are required:
- Education Objectives by subject matter and appropriate grade level
- Evidence of Immunization or letter of medical/religious exemption
- Evidence of Health and Medical Services or letter of religious exemption

June 30th Deadline
- Student’s Home Education Evaluation for the completed school year
