Ms. Kathy Kramer, Director of Special Education

Ms. Kathy Kramer, Director of Special Education, is starting her 30th year at EPASD. She started out as an elementary and middle school teacher in special education teaching 4th and 5th graders. When the elementary moved to its present location she stayed at the middle school and continued to teach special education students in grade 5 and 6 who needed part time special education services. In August of 1998 until June 1999 she was the interim special education chairperson. She went back to the classroom teaching in grades 5-8 with students who needed full time life skills support. In 2006 she became the Director of Pupil Services and in July 2012 she became the Director of Special Education. Ms. Kramer is a 1981 graduate of Central Dauphin East High. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Millersville University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, Special Education Supervisory Certificate, Principal Certificate, and Letter of Eligibility for Superintendent from Shippensburg University. In 1998 along with Mr. Darin Yoder, Ms. Kramer was recognized from PA Council of Social Studies for their outstanding project of the year-Columbus-You Are There. In 2003, she was honored with receiving the George M. Leader Award for Outstanding Special Education Teacher. She was also given administration recognition from EPASD in March of 2003 and May 2004. For 10 years Ms. Kramer coordinated the Area M Local Special Olympics meet held at East Pennsboro. Ms. Kramer is a member of CEC (Council for Exceptional Children) and ASCD (Association of Curriculum and Development). She has taught in the Special Education Department at Shippensburg University. Ms. Kramer is looking forward to continuing to work with the wonderful staff at EPASD in building and developing the special education program to meet the ever changing needs of the special education population. Ms. Kramer lives in Linglestown with her two dogs, Patches (boxer) and Gigi (Bichon/Shitzu mix) She has one son, two daughters and a 5 year old grandson who just started kindergarten.
